Are GMOs safe to humans, animals, and the environment? Can biotechnology be used for bioterrorism? Does advances in biotechnology benefit multinational corporations more than farmers? What are the ethical dimensions on biotechnology? If there are advantages to biotechnology applications, what are the disadvantages? What are the risks involved and how are these managed?
This sub-level aims to impart to the trainees an objective overview of the issues and concerns surrounding biotechnology, particularly risks associated with the application of genetic modification technology, how these risks are viewed by various stakeholders, and how these risks are assessed and managed.
